“Support Tinubu or Risk Losing Projects” — Umahi Sends Strong Message to South-East Ahead of 2027

Minister of Works, David Umahi, has urged South-East residents to fully support President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections, warning that continued federal infrastructure development in the region could depend on it.

Umahi made the statement during an inspection tour of ongoing road and bridge projects in Ebonyi State on Wednesday.

The former Ebonyi governor praised Tinubu’s administration for what he described as massive investments in South-East infrastructure, saying no previous government had done as much for the region.

Among the projects inspected was the Calabar–Ebonyi–Benue–Nasarawa–Abuja Superhighway, one of the Federal Government’s major road projects currently under construction.

According to Umahi, the road project running through parts of Ebonyi State is being built with reinforced concrete and solar-powered streetlights at a cost of hundreds of billions of naira.

He disclosed that the government had already released a large portion of the funding and assured contractors that outstanding payments would be settled.

Umahi stressed that communities benefiting from federal projects should show appreciation by supporting President Tinubu politically in the next general election.

Speaking directly about voting patterns in the region, the minister said some communities that failed to support the APC in previous elections should reconsider if they want ongoing projects completed.

He argued that only the current administration had shown the political will to execute projects of such scale in the South-East.

Umahi also dismissed claims that the region remains politically marginalised, pointing to his appointment as Minister of Works and the growing number of federal projects across South-East states.

According to him, the Tinubu administration has brought the South-East closer to the centre of national politics.

The minister called on political leaders in the region to publicly defend the President and inform residents about ongoing federal projects and achievements.

He added that many sections of the road projects are expected to be completed before the end of the year.

Umahi further declared that Ebonyi State would massively support Tinubu in 2027, expressing confidence that the President would receive overwhelming votes from the state.

His comments are already generating political reactions as conversations around the 2027 elections continue to intensify across the country.
