Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, has officially emerged as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 election in the state.
Mbah was declared the sole candidate of the party following the APC governorship primary held across Enugu State.
The announcement was made on Friday by the chairman of the APC Governorship Primary Election Committee, Danmalikin Hausa, during the conclusion of the exercise in Enugu.
According to the committee, over 397,000 accredited party members participated in the primary election conducted across the state’s 260 wards.
Hausa described the exercise as peaceful, credible and free of internal crisis, praising party members for maintaining unity throughout the process.
He also commended President Bola Tinubu and the national leadership of the APC for creating what he called an atmosphere of stability and internal democracy within the party.
Reacting to his emergence, Governor Peter Mbah thanked party leaders and supporters for the confidence placed in him.
The governor described the endorsement as a major moment for the APC in Enugu State and said it reflects the growing unity within the party.
Mbah noted that the event was more than just a political gathering, adding that it represented a shared vision for the future of the state.
He accepted the nomination with humility and promised to continue focusing on governance, infrastructure and service delivery.
According to him, his administration has remained committed to transparency, accountability and development since assuming office.
The governor also acknowledged that the political journey ahead would not be easy but insisted that the party is prepared for the challenges ahead of the 2027 elections.
His emergence is expected to shape political discussions in Enugu State as preparations gradually begin for another election cycle.
