Celebrity barman and businessman, Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has revealed that President Bola Tinubu still does not completely trust him because of his former support for Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, during the 2023 elections.
Speaking during a livestream with popular streamer Peller, the socialite admitted that the President allegedly views him with suspicion over his past political stance.
“President Bola Tinubu no really trust me as an Igbo man that I am. He look me with one eye because he believes that this one that worked for Peter Obi before at the last election,” Cubana Chief Priest said.
The businessman, who now serves as the Imo State Coordinator of the Pro-Tinubu City Boys Movement, explained that he later dumped Obi’s camp because he did not want to remain on the losing side politically.
“Because I don’t want to lose again because they say first fool no be fool, na the second fool be proper fool,” he added.
Cubana Chief Priest also threw shade at Obi’s 2027 presidential ambition, describing the former Anambra governor as “not serious” while insisting that “the serious people will win.”
The remarks have sparked reactions online, with some Nigerians accusing him of political opportunism, while others defended his decision as part of political reality.
The socialite was one of the entertainers who openly campaigned for Peter Obi and the Labour Party in 2023 before later aligning with the ruling APC and President Tinubu. He recently picked up an APC House of Representatives nomination form but eventually withdrew before the party primary.
