Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, is set to officially declare open the 59th National Board Meeting of the Bible Society of Nigeria on May 20, 2026, in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.
The event will begin with a special divine service at the First Baptist Church, Oke Elerin, ahead of the board meeting scheduled to hold on Thursday.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the organisation’s Media Manager, Benjamin Mordi, who said the gathering would bring together top officials and delegates of the Bible Society of Nigeria from across the country.
According to the statement, the President and Board Chairman of the society, Bishop Banwo, will preside over the meeting, where discussions will focus on the organisation’s past achievements, ongoing activities and future plans in line with its mission of Bible translation and distribution.
The society is also expected to review its financial accounts for the previous year, while the General Secretary and Chief Executive Officer, Pastor Samuel Sanusi, will present the organisation’s annual report.
Mordi further revealed that notable personalities expected at the meeting include former Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon (retd.), who serves as Patron of the organisation, alongside national officers, members of the board of trustees, delegates from different parts of Nigeria and senior management officials.
The Bible Society of Nigeria is a non-profit and interdenominational Christian organisation dedicated to translating the Bible into indigenous Nigerian languages as well as publishing and distributing the scriptures across the country.
