Late Former President’s Son Defeats Opponent In Sandamu/Daura/Mai’adua APC Primary
Yusuf Buhari, son of Nigeria’s late former president Muhammadu Buhari, has emerged as the All Progressives Congress candidate for the Sandamu/Daura/Mai’adua Federal Constituency seat in Katsina State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Yusuf secured a massive victory during the APC House of Representatives primary election conducted on Saturday, defeating his challenger, Auwal Daura, by a wide margin.
Official results from the exercise showed that Yusuf Buhari polled 6,386 votes, while Auwal Daura managed to secure 322 votes during the contest held across Sandamu, Daura and Mai’adua local government areas.
Party officials described the primary election as peaceful, transparent and orderly, noting that accredited delegates participated without major disruptions or violence.
A supervising official identified simply as Ibrahim stated that the outcome of the election reflected the collective decision and support of APC delegates within the constituency.
According to him, Yusuf Buhari’s overwhelming victory also demonstrated the continued political influence and goodwill associated with the Buhari family name across the constituency and Katsina State generally.
The official further explained that party members turned out in large numbers for the exercise, showing strong interest in the selection process ahead of the 2027 elections.
Records from the primary indicated that the constituency has over 21,000 registered voters, while 6,837 delegates were accredited to participate in the APC primary election.
Out of the accredited delegates, a total of 6,708 votes were successfully cast during the exercise.
With the victory, Yusuf Buhari is now expected to fly the APC flag for the Sandamu/Daura/Mai’adua Federal Constituency seat during the 2027 general elections.
