Party Moves National Assembly Aspirants’ Screening To Abuja Amid Rising Tension In Parts Of Northern Nigeria
The African Democratic Congress has postponed its presidential and governorship screening exercise earlier scheduled to hold this weekend, shifting the exercise to Monday.
The development was announced in a statement released on Saturday in Abuja by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi.
According to the ADC, the adjustment became necessary following internal considerations and prevailing security concerns affecting parts of Northern Nigeria.
The party also disclosed that screening exercises for National Assembly aspirants would no longer hold in some affected locations but would instead be conducted in Abuja for security and logistical reasons.
ADC explained that all aspirants affected by the changes would be officially contacted and provided with fresh schedules alongside other important details regarding the revised screening arrangements.
The party appealed for understanding from aspirants and stakeholders, expressing regret over any inconvenience the postponement and venue changes might cause.
ADC further appreciated party members and aspirants for their cooperation, assuring them that the adjustments were made in the interest of safety and proper coordination ahead of the screening exercise.
