The National Business and Technical Examinations Board has officially announced the registration deadlines and procedures for the 2026 National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) and the May/June In-School Certificate Examinations, urging schools, parents and candidates to complete all registration processes before the closing dates to avoid last-minute complications.
The announcement was made in a statement released in Benin by the board’s Assistant Director of Media and Protocol, Uchechukwu Olisah, who disclosed that registration for the 2026 May/June In-School Certificate Examinations will officially close on May 31, 2026, while registration for the National Common Entrance Examination will end on May 24, 2026.
According to the statement, the Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of NABTEB, Mohammed Mohammed, advised all stakeholders to utilise the available registration window promptly and ensure that candidates complete all necessary procedures before the deadlines expire.
Mohammed explained that the board had introduced simplified online registration procedures designed to make the process easier, faster and less stressful for both schools and individual candidates across the country.
He noted that the registration system has been fully digitised to improve efficiency and eliminate delays commonly associated with manual registration processes.
“For the May/June in-school registration, schools are expected to request slots through their respective state offices, capture candidates using NABTEB biometric software and complete the registration through the official portal,” Mohammed explained while outlining the registration procedures.
The NABTEB registrar further stated that schools would also need to obtain login credentials through their state offices before making payments and completing registration on the designated school registration platform.
He added that candidates registering for the National Common Entrance Examination are required to obtain Personal Identification Numbers through NABTEB state offices before proceeding with online registration on the official entrance examination portal.
According to him, the board has also provided an independent online registration option that allows candidates to create personal accounts, log in directly and complete their registration without difficulties.
“Candidates may create accounts independently, log in and complete registration online, while schools can also obtain login details through state offices to facilitate bulk registration for students,” he stated.
Mohammed emphasised that the board remains committed to leveraging digital technology to improve examination administration and service delivery nationwide.
He also advised schools and candidates to carefully follow all registration guidelines and ensure that submitted candidate information is accurate and properly documented to avoid issues during examination processing.
The board stressed that proper biometric data capture remains mandatory as part of measures introduced to strengthen examination integrity and reduce irregularities.
NABTEB further encouraged parents, guardians and school administrators not to delay registration until the final days, warning that late registration attempts could lead to avoidable technical challenges and processing difficulties.
The examination body also reassured candidates and educational institutions that support services remain available through state offices and official online platforms for anyone requiring clarification or assistance during the registration process.
Members of the public seeking further information were advised to contact the nearest NABTEB state office or visit the board’s official registration portals for additional guidance and support regarding the 2026 examinations.
The announcement comes as thousands of candidates across Nigeria prepare for the upcoming technical and vocational examinations, which remain critical pathways for admission into higher institutions and career development opportunities within the country’s educational and technical sectors.
