President of the Nigerian Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has declared that Akwa Ibom will produce the highest number of votes for President Bola Tinubu in the South-South region during the 2027 general elections.
Akpabio made the statement during a stakeholders’ consultation meeting of the All Progressives Congress held at the Government House in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital.
The meeting was organised as Governor Umo Eno formally engaged party leaders and stakeholders regarding his second-term ambition ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
According to a statement issued by Akpabio’s Special Assistant on Media, Jackson Udom, the Senate President praised Governor Eno’s leadership style, describing him as a peaceful, humble, and inclusive leader whose administration has continued to unite people across political and social divides in the state.
Akpabio stated that the governor’s calm approach to governance and his willingness to carry everyone along have strengthened confidence within the party ahead of future elections.
Speaking at the gathering, the Senate President said:
“What we are witnessing today clearly shows that Governor Umo Eno is a peaceful man and a true servant of God, both in words and actions. His humility and ability to unite people across different interests have given us confidence that Akwa Ibom will deliver the highest number of votes for President Tinubu in the entire South-South zone.”
He also commended Governor Eno for consulting widely with party members and stakeholders despite reportedly facing no major opposition for the APC governorship ticket ahead of the 2027 election.
According to Akpabio, the governor’s decision to continue consultations demonstrates political maturity and respect for party structures.
The Senate President explained:
“Even though nobody is seriously contesting the party ticket with him, Governor Eno still considers it important to consult stakeholders and party faithful. That alone says a lot about his character and leadership style.”
Akpabio further applauded the governor for ongoing infrastructural development projects across Akwa Ibom State, noting that visible progress under the current administration has reassured residents that governance is actively taking place.
He stated that several projects initiated by the state government are either completed or nearing completion, while abandoned projects inherited from previous administrations are also being revived and commissioned for public use.
According to him:
“If you travel across Akwa Ibom today, you will clearly see that government is working. Projects are being started, completed, and commissioned for the benefit of the people. Even projects abandoned for years are now being revived and delivered. That is the mark of a leader who genuinely cares about the welfare and progress of his people.”
Akpabio also congratulated the governor over the commencement of international flight operations at the Victor Attah International Airport, describing the development as a major achievement capable of boosting economic activities and improving connectivity in the state.
The Senate President further expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for supporting the emergence of an indigene of Akwa Ibom as Senate President, saying the people of the state remain grateful for the political support and recognition given to the region.
He added that the state would demonstrate its appreciation and loyalty to the President during future elections through massive electoral support for the APC.
The remarks come as political activities and consultations ahead of the 2027 general elections continue to gather momentum across Nigeria, with major political figures already positioning themselves and strengthening alliances ahead of the next electoral cycle.
