President Bola Tinubu has approved the deployment of four newly appointed Federal Permanent Secretaries as part of efforts to strengthen the machinery of government and accelerate the implementation of the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The latest move is aimed at improving institutional performance, deepening inter-ministerial coordination, and enhancing the delivery of government policies across critical sectors of the economy.
The announcement was made on Monday by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.
Deployment Follows Competitive Selection Process
According to a statement issued by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Mrs. Eno Olotu, the postings followed a competitive and merit-based selection process.
The statement explained that the redeployment is part of ongoing efforts to position experienced senior civil servants in strategic offices where their expertise can support policy implementation, administrative efficiency, and sustainable national development.
Officials noted that the appointments are intended to strengthen the operational capacity of government institutions while ensuring that key ministries and departments remain aligned with the administration’s broader governance priorities.
Newly Deployed Permanent Secretaries and Portfolios
Under the new arrangement, Mrs. Bekearedebo Augusta Warrens of Bayelsa State has been deployed to the Political and Economic Affairs Office, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
Dr. Kamil Ayinde Shoretire of Ogun State has been posted to the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, where he is expected to contribute to policy coordination and administrative leadership within the ministry.
Also, Mrs. Nkiruka Bella Jones-Nebo of Enugu State has been assigned to the Career Management Office, Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.
Meanwhile, Mr. Sani Yargaya Aminu of Kano State will serve in the Special Services Office, Cabinet Affairs Office, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
The postings place the new permanent secretaries in strategic institutions that play central roles in policy coordination, public service management, labour administration, and executive governance.
Walson-Jack Charges Appointees on Leadership and Results
Reacting to the deployment, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, congratulated the newly appointed officials and urged them to bring their knowledge, experience, and innovative capacity to their new responsibilities.
She emphasised that the success of the civil service depends heavily on professionalism, accountability, discipline, and a strong commitment to results-driven leadership.
According to her, the federal government expects the new permanent secretaries to provide strategic direction in their respective offices while helping to strengthen service delivery and institutional efficiency.
She further noted that their roles would be critical in advancing national development objectives and supporting the effective execution of government programmes.
Strengthening Governance Through Strategic Appointments
The redeployment reflects the administration’s continued focus on strengthening public institutions and improving the effectiveness of government operations.
Permanent secretaries remain among the most senior career officers in Nigeria’s public service and are responsible for ensuring continuity, policy coordination, and administrative oversight within ministries and government departments.
Analysts say strategic postings of senior civil servants are increasingly important at a time when government institutions are under pressure to deliver faster policy outcomes, improve accountability, and respond more effectively to national development priorities.
By placing experienced officials in key positions, the government is expected to reinforce institutional stability while improving coordination across major policy areas.
Immediate Effect
The Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation confirmed that the deployment takes immediate effect.
With the new assignments now in force, attention will shift to how the appointed permanent secretaries drive policy execution, strengthen institutional collaboration, and contribute to the broader objectives of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
