The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Rivers State has shifted its focus firmly toward victory in the 2027 general elections, following a decisive ruling by the Supreme Court of Nigeria that restored the leadership of David Mark.
The party’s chairman-elect in the state, Chukwudi Dimkpa, described the judgment as a significant and welcome development while addressing journalists in Port Harcourt. According to him, the ruling not only resolves internal leadership concerns but also reinforces the importance of due process and judicial discipline within Nigeria’s political framework.
Dimkpa emphasized that the Supreme Court’s decision restores legal clarity and reaffirms the principle that judicial actions must remain within the bounds of established jurisdiction. He noted that the verdict provides the ADC with a stable and lawful foundation upon which it can rebuild, reorganize, and advance its political ambitions.
With the leadership dispute now settled, the party is intensifying its preparations for the upcoming elections. Dimkpa outlined a comprehensive strategy focused on strengthening grassroots structures across all 23 local government areas in Rivers State, including wards and polling units. He added that the ADC is actively working to expand its membership base through continuous registration drives and engagement with key stakeholders.
“The party is committed to building a disciplined, law-abiding, and issue-driven political movement,” Dimkpa stated. “We are not merely preparing to contest elections; we are positioning ourselves as a credible and capable alternative ready to win and govern effectively.”
He further revealed that the ADC is in the process of developing a clear governance agenda that reflects the aspirations and needs of the people of Rivers State. According to him, the party aims to present practical solutions to pressing challenges while promoting transparency, accountability, and inclusive governance.
Reaffirming the party’s commitment to democratic values, Dimkpa stressed that the Supreme Court ruling marks a critical step toward strengthening institutional integrity, not just within the ADC but across the broader political landscape in Nigeria. He called on party members, supporters, and stakeholders to remain united and focused as the party continues to build a strong and forward-looking platform.
In his closing remarks, Dimkpa expressed confidence in the party’s chances, noting that unity, discipline, and collective determination will be key to achieving success. He maintained that the ADC is fully prepared to offer Rivers State a new direction, anchored on progress, stability, and good governance.
As political momentum begins to build ahead of 2027, the ADC in Rivers State appears determined to transform its renewed internal stability into electoral strength, positioning itself as a serious contender in the race for power.
