A 10-year-old boy has reportedly been abducted by gunmen in Yobe State after armed attackers invaded his family’s residence and whisked him away to an unknown location.
According to security sources, the incident was reported at about 5:20 p.m. on July 25 by Bukar Umar, a resident of Andarashi Village, through Babbangida.
Reports indicate that four unidentified gunmen, armed with bows and arrows, cutlasses and sticks, stormed the family’s home and forcefully abducted the victim, Abdullahi Isa.
The attackers reportedly escaped with the child before later contacting the family by telephone to demand a ransom for his release.
Following the report, the Yobe State Police Command immediately deployed a team of officers to the area, while the Officer-in-Charge of the State Investigation Department (SID) was directed to begin technical tracking of the phone number allegedly used by the kidnappers.
Police authorities said efforts are ongoing to rescue the boy safely and arrest those behind the abduction.
Investigations into the incident are still underway.
