The All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused the Osun State Government of neglecting the state’s healthcare sector, claiming that many health facilities are operating without adequate medical personnel and essential drugs.
The allegation was made by the National Secretary of the APC, Senator Ajibola Basiru, during a campaign rally in Ila-Orangun in support of the party’s governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
Basiru said the previous APC administration expanded healthcare services to all 332 wards in Osun State to make medical care more accessible to residents. However, he alleged that many of those facilities have now deteriorated due to poor staffing and lack of basic medical supplies.
“During the APC administration, healthcare facilities were extended across the 332 wards of the state to bring medical services closer to the people. Today, many of those facilities lack doctors, nurses and essential medicines. We believe Osun deserves a government that will restore confidence in the healthcare sector,” he said.
The APC chieftain also argued that the increase in federal allocations to states should have translated into improved development across Osun.
He said an APC-led administration under Bola Oyebamiji would prioritise key sectors including healthcare, agriculture, education, civil service welfare and security, adding that the party’s candidate has the experience to effectively manage the state’s resources.
Speaking at the rally, Oyebamiji promised to complete ongoing road projects and construct more rural roads to improve transportation, boost agricultural activities and attract investment to communities across the state.
“When I become governor, we will complete this road and ensure that other roads linking our towns and villages are also constructed. Good roads are essential for transporting agricultural produce, attracting investment and improving the lives of our people,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Orangun of Ila-Orangun, Oba Abdulwahab Olukayode Adedotun Bibire I, offered prayers for Oyebamiji’s governorship ambition during a visit by the APC candidate.
According to the APC, the traditional ruler prayed for the party’s candidate and wished him success in the forthcoming election.
