President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to extending the level of infrastructure development witnessed in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to other parts of the country.
The President gave the assurance on Tuesday during the inauguration of the newly completed Transitway N2, which links the Central Business District to Wuse District, including two newly constructed bridges built by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).
Represented by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Tinubu said his administration would continue investing in roads, bridges, railways and other critical infrastructure to drive economic growth and improve connectivity nationwide.
According to him, the newly commissioned road reflects the goals of the Renewed Hope Agenda, which seeks to unlock economic opportunities, promote sustainable development and improve the quality of life for Nigerians.
“We will continue investing in roads, bridges, railways and other critical infrastructure to ensure balanced national development and improved connectivity,” the President said.
Tinubu explained that the project would ease traffic congestion, improve movement within Abuja and create new commercial opportunities by connecting key districts in the nation’s capital.
He also commended FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for his role in driving ongoing infrastructure development in the territory in line with the Abuja Master Plan.
Speaking at the event, Wike described the Transitway as a vital transport corridor connecting Wuse with the Central Business District, adding that the successes recorded by the FCT Administration were made possible through President Tinubu’s support.
The minister noted that removing the FCT Administration from the Treasury Single Account (TSA) significantly improved access to funding for infrastructure projects.
Wike also disclosed that more completed projects would be inaugurated before the conclusion of the ongoing project commissioning exercise on July 17.
Earlier, the Acting Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Richard Dauda, said the Transitway project forms part of the Abuja Master Plan and is designed to support both road and rail transportation as part of an integrated mass transit network.
