Nigerian singer and songwriter Emmanuella Wihioka, popularly known as Bloody Civilian, has revealed that marriage is currently the last thing on her mind despite constant questions from family members.
The fast-rising music star made the disclosure during an interview with music platform NotJustOk, where she spoke about the challenges of balancing family expectations with her career ambitions.
According to Bloody Civilian, her family sometimes finds it difficult to understand her lifestyle and decisions as an artist, especially because she does not fit into the traditional expectations often associated with women from Northern Nigeria.
The singer explained that while discussions about marriage frequently come up at home, she remains focused on building her music career and is not currently interested in settling down.
“One thing my family still does not understand about being an artist is the fact that certain conventional things that they expect of a woman from the North are simply not things I’m excited to do,” she said.
She added:
“For instance, marriage is not something that I am thinking of at all, but that question keeps being brought up.”
Bloody Civilian’s comments have sparked conversations online about societal expectations, career goals, and the pressure many women face regarding marriage.
For now, the singer appears determined to focus on her personal growth and music journey rather than conforming to expectations she does not share.
