Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has declared that the state will deliver 95 percent of its votes to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections, expressing confidence that the president deserves a second term in office.
The governor made the statement during a strategic meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) held at the Presidential Lodge in Abeokuta, where party leaders discussed preparations ahead of the next election cycle.
Abiodun praised Tinubu’s economic reforms, saying they have helped reposition Nigeria’s economy and laid the foundation for long-term growth and development. He urged party members to remain united and committed to ensuring victory for the APC in 2027.
The governor also commended APC members in Ogun State for conducting what he described as a peaceful, transparent, and crisis-free primary election process. According to him, the level of unity and cooperation displayed by party stakeholders helped the state avoid the disputes often associated with political primaries.
Deputy Governorship Slot Zoned To Ogun East
Speaking on preparations for the governorship race, Abiodun revealed that the party has agreed to zone the position of deputy governor to Ogun East Senatorial District, specifically the Ijebu axis.
He explained that the decision was reached after consultations with party leaders, noting that the APC governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Adeola, is from Ogun West Senatorial District.
According to the governor, the move reflects the party’s commitment to fairness, inclusiveness, and balanced representation across the state’s three senatorial districts.
Focus On Security And Human Capital Development
Abiodun also pledged to strengthen security across Ogun State through technology-driven solutions aimed at combating kidnapping, banditry, and other criminal activities.
He stressed that protecting lives and property remains a priority, especially for children and vulnerable residents.
The governor further disclosed that while his administration has invested heavily in infrastructure, greater attention will now be given to human capital development and social intervention programmes designed to ease the economic burden on residents.
He reaffirmed his commitment to improving the welfare of Ogun people and ensuring that the benefits of governance reach every part of the state.
