Abia State Governor Alex Otti has expressed confidence that the ongoing construction of a new Governor’s Office and Official Residence in Umuahia will be completed before the end of 2026.
The governor gave the assurance during an inspection of the Government House complex, where he assessed the progress of work on the multi-billion-naira project.
Otti commended the contractor, Craneburg Construction Company, for the quality of work done so far and urged the firm to maintain the pace to meet the project deadline.
During the visit, the governor received updates from site engineers and inspected key sections of the facility to ensure work aligns with approved standards and specifications.
The project forms part of a wider Government House renewal initiative aimed at modernising public infrastructure and improving the efficiency of governance in Abia State.
Several projects within the complex have already been completed, including the renovation of the Deputy Governor’s Office, the construction of a new Secretary to the State Government (SSG) office, and the remodelling of the Michael Okpara Auditorium, Banquet Hall, and Protocol Building.
Other ongoing projects include a modern Government House Clinic, a new entrance gate, and additional facilities designed to enhance the functionality and appearance of the state’s seat of power.
The Abia State Government says the initiative is one of the flagship infrastructure projects of the Otti administration and is expected to strengthen administrative operations while providing modern public facilities.
