A media aide to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Paul Ibe, has urged the Department of State Services (DSS) and other security agencies to invite Sunday Igboho for questioning over his claim that he knows the politicians allegedly sponsoring kidnappers responsible for the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State.
Ibe made the call after Igboho publicly alleged that some politicians were funding and supplying weapons to criminal groups operating in the South-West, particularly those linked to the recent Oriire school abduction.
According to Ibe, if Igboho truly possesses such information, security agencies should immediately engage him and obtain the names of those allegedly behind the attacks.
“Since Sunday Igboho claims to know those behind the abduction of students and teachers in Oriire, Oyo State, I think the DSS and other security agencies should invite him to reveal those names,” Ibe said.
He stressed that every available option should be explored to secure the release of the abducted victims and dismantle any criminal networks responsible for the attacks.
Ibe also questioned the Federal Government’s response to insecurity in other parts of the country, particularly the reported abduction of dozens of schoolchildren in Borno State, asking why similar attention had not been given to those victims.
The comments come days after Igboho claimed he knew politicians allegedly backing kidnappers and warned that he would publicly expose them if the attacks continued.
“I know the politicians behind them. They are the ones giving them ammunition and money,” Igboho had alleged.
The latest development has intensified public debate over allegations of political sponsorship of criminal groups and renewed calls for security agencies to thoroughly investigate any information that could aid ongoing rescue operations.
The abduction of students and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area has continued to generate nationwide concern, with pressure mounting on authorities to secure the victims’ release and bring those responsible to justice.
