Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, Gen. Christopher Musa (retd), has reassured citizens that the Federal Government and security agencies remain committed to rescuing victims currently held by kidnappers across the country.
The Defence Minister gave the assurance while speaking at the 2026 Southern Kaduna Festival, where he was honoured with the Southern Kaduna Grand Commander Award.
Addressing guests at the event, Musa acknowledged the pain and anxiety faced by families whose loved ones remain in captivity, promising that the government would continue working tirelessly to secure their freedom.
According to him, security agencies have not forgotten those still being held by criminal groups and are determined to ensure their safe return.
“As we speak, some of our brothers and sisters are still in captivity. Wherever they are, they should know that we are with them, and we will do everything possible to secure their release,” he said.
The minister stressed that defeating insecurity requires collective action, urging Nigerians to support security agencies with credible and timely information.
He noted that intelligence from residents often plays a crucial role in tracking criminal networks and preventing attacks before they occur.
Musa also emphasised the importance of unity, saying communities must work together to overcome the security challenges facing the nation.
He reassured Nigerians that the Armed Forces and other security agencies remain focused on protecting lives, defending the country’s territorial integrity, and creating a safer environment for all citizens.
His comments come amid growing concerns over the rising number of kidnapping incidents across parts of the country.
The minister’s remarks also follow recent appeals from abducted victims, including school officials and students kidnapped during attacks on schools in Oyo State, who have pleaded with authorities to intensify efforts toward their rescue.
As insecurity continues to dominate national conversations, Musa maintained that security forces remain determined to confront criminal elements and restore confidence among Nigerians.
