Spanish champions Barcelona have officially completed the signing of England international Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United in a deal worth up to €80 million.
The Catalan giants confirmed the transfer on Friday, announcing that the 25-year-old winger has signed a long-term contract that will keep him at the club until June 2031.
Gordon arrives at the Camp Nou after an outstanding campaign with Newcastle, where he emerged as one of the club’s most influential attacking players.
The England star scored 17 goals across all competitions last season, including 10 in the UEFA Champions League, finishing as Newcastle’s leading scorer and one of the Premier League club’s standout performers.
Barcelona believe Gordon’s pace, creativity and eye for goal will add fresh energy to their attack as the club prepares for a new era following the departure of veteran striker Robert Lewandowski.
The move is seen as a major statement by Barcelona, who are once again becoming active in the transfer market after years of financial restrictions.
