Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze is set to return to AC Milan this summer after Fulham reportedly decided against signing him permanently following his loan spell in England.
The Nigerian star spent the season at Fulham after joining the Premier League side on loan from AC Milan, with an option for the club to make the move permanent.
However, reports indicate that Fulham will not activate the purchase clause believed to be valued between €25 million and €30 million.
Despite showing flashes of brilliance during the season, the London club reportedly felt the transfer fee was too high compared to his overall performances.
Chukwueze recorded three goals and four assists during his time with Fulham, using his pace and dribbling ability to contribute to the team’s attacking play.
But inconsistency throughout the campaign appears to have influenced Fulham’s decision to look elsewhere for attacking reinforcements ahead of next season.
According to reports from Tuttomercato, the 27-year-old winger will now return to AC Milan once his loan deal officially expires.
However, his future at the Italian club remains uncertain.
Before moving to Fulham, Chukwueze struggled to establish himself as a regular starter at AC Milan despite arriving from Spanish side Villarreal with high expectations in 2023.
The winger was widely regarded as one of Europe’s exciting attacking talents during his time in La Liga, but adapting to Serie A reportedly proved difficult.
AC Milan are also currently undergoing major changes following the reported dismissal of manager Max Allegri, adding further uncertainty to Chukwueze’s situation.
Reports suggest the Nigerian international could either be reintegrated into the squad or placed on the transfer market as Milan reshapes the team ahead of next season.
Meanwhile, Premier League side Everton are reportedly among clubs monitoring his situation.
With the summer transfer window approaching, more clubs are expected to show interest in the Super Eagles star.
At 27, many football analysts believe Chukwueze still has the talent and experience to revive his career at the highest level.
The development has already sparked reactions among Nigerian football fans, many of whom are eager to see where the winger will play next season.
