Senator Ned Nwoko has rejected the outcome of the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary in Delta State, insisting that the results announced did not reflect the actual votes cast during the exercise.
The APC chieftain, who lost the primary to former Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, accused party officials of manipulating the process and vowed to challenge the outcome in court.
Speaking during an interview on Arise TV, Nwoko claimed he won the primary based on results and evidence allegedly gathered from the wards across the district.
According to him, party officials unexpectedly instructed that ward results should not be announced during the exercise and instead ordered that all results be moved to Abuja for final collation.
“Halfway through the primary, we got a message that no results should be announced at the ward level,” he said.
Nwoko alleged that only one ward result video was later made public, showing Okowa being declared winner, while results from the remaining wards were not displayed.
He questioned the credibility of the figures released from the ward shown in the video, claiming the number of people visible did not match the official votes announced.
“It was just one video showing only a few people, yet the result said there were 5,000 votes,” he stated.
The senator further revealed that his team had already submitted results and video evidence from all 98 wards, maintaining that he remained convinced he secured the majority votes in the primary.
“We won the primary. I have the videos and evidence,” Nwoko insisted.
Despite the controversy, the senator said he would not work against the APC, stressing that he still believes President Bola Tinubu would step into the matter and ensure fairness.
“I’m sure the President will intervene in this matter,” he added.
Nwoko also accused former PDP members who recently joined the APC in Delta State of sidelining long-standing party members and taking control of the party structure.
According to him, earlier promises about restructuring the party leadership and creating a power-sharing arrangement were never fulfilled.
The lawmaker maintained that he would not concede defeat and confirmed plans to seek legal action over the disputed primary result.
The development has sparked fresh political reactions online as tensions continue to rise within the APC in Delta State ahead of the 2027 elections.
