Veteran Nollywood actress, Rita Edochie, has responded angrily to social media users who speculated that she was suffering from arthritis after a video of her dancing surfaced online.
The actress questioned how people could associate her movements and active lifestyle with a health condition, describing the comments as unnecessary and malicious.
Edochie reacted on her Instagram page, @ritaedochie, after some users began making claims about her health based on the way she moved in a video she shared while dancing.
The actress criticised those behind the speculation, pointing to her busy schedule, frequent travels and physical activity as evidence of how active she remains.
“Can their mothers ever be as strong, active, energetic, and flexible as I am? Impossible!” she wrote.
Edochie explained that she had been travelling, moving around and standing for several hours while promoting her movie, despite the speculation about her health.
She also accused her critics of being jealous because she was currently trending and receiving attention online.
“Your empty head can only find arthritis to talk about,” she added.
The actress further appealed to social media users to stop attacking and making hurtful comments about other people online, warning that such behaviour could contribute to depression.
Edochie maintained that she would not allow online criticism to prevent her from using social media or sharing moments and updates with her followers.
