The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) says it facilitated the recovery of N2.056 billion following its monitoring of 31 constituency and executive projects across Kaduna State.
The projects, spread across the Kaduna South, Kaduna North and Kaduna Central senatorial districts, were tracked under the commission’s Constituency and Executive Project Tracking Initiative.
The exercise was coordinated by Chief Superintendent Haruna Aminu, with ICPC officers visiting selected project sites to assess their level of execution, verify compliance with approved specifications and determine whether public funds were delivering value.
The commission also examined how funds allocated to the projects were utilised as part of efforts to strengthen transparency and accountability in government-funded projects.
According to the ICPC, the exercise resulted in the recovery of N2,056,467,766.86.
The commission said the outcome highlights the importance of sustained monitoring of constituency and executive projects to protect public resources and ensure that government interventions deliver their intended benefits.
It added that the tracking initiative is designed to promote transparency, accountability and value for money, while preventing the diversion and misuse of public funds.
The ICPC described the recovery as a significant outcome of its Kaduna exercise and an indication of the role effective oversight can play in safeguarding government resources and improving project implementation.
