A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Enugu State, Dr. Walter Oji, has criticised the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), claiming the party has failed Nigerians and would struggle to retain power in the 2027 general elections.
Oji made the remarks during the inaugural meeting of the G24 for Atiku Abubakar and Ocho Obodoeze 2027 Movement, an ADC support group, held in Enugu.
According to him, the APC-led Federal Government has failed to adequately address key national challenges, including economic hardship, insecurity and poverty.
He argued that Nigerians deserve a new direction and should consider voting for a different leadership in the next general election.
“It is time to tell Bola Tinubu that Nigerians deserve a new direction and that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar should be given the opportunity to lead the country in 2027,” Oji said.
The ADC chieftain described Atiku as an experienced leader with the capacity to improve governance and revive Nigeria’s economy.
Oji also criticised the administration of Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah, alleging that some of its policies have placed additional economic pressure on residents.
He urged the people of Enugu State to support the ADC governorship candidate, Chief Ocho Obodoeze, ahead of the 2027 election.
According to him, the party is offering a vision focused on development, prosperity and good governance.
Oji commended members of the support group for mobilising support for Atiku Abubakar, Ocho Obodoeze and other ADC candidates ahead of the elections.
He, however, advised political support groups not to depend entirely on funding from the party or candidates.
Instead, he encouraged members to contribute resources and strengthen grassroots mobilisation across communities.
The ADC leader also urged supporters to take the party’s message directly to the people, stressing that Nigerians have the power to determine the country’s future through their votes.
The event was attended by several party leaders, including Dr. Ekene Onwuka, Special Assistant to Atiku Abubakar on Special Duties; Anie Gift, representative of Atiku’s wife; Bon Unachukwu, ADC South-East Zonal Vice Chairman; and Gen. Chris Eze (Rtd.), the party’s Enugu State Caretaker Chairman.
