US President Donald Trump has hinted that the United States could launch another military operation against Iran as the war approaches its eighth month, raising fresh concerns about an escalation of the conflict and its impact on global energy prices.
Trump made the remark on Friday during a rally in Fort Myers, Florida, where he suggested that Washington could resume military action against Tehran.
“We may do another little Epic Fury,” Trump told supporters, referring to the name used by the US military for its campaign against Iran. He did not provide further details about the possibility of another operation.
His comments came hours after he said the United States could bring the war to an end quickly but questioned whether Washington should pursue an immediate conclusion or allow the conflict to gradually wind down.
Trump has offered varying goals and timelines for ending the war. During recent campaign appearances, he has repeatedly suggested that the conflict would end soon, saying it would conclude “one way or the other”.
Earlier this month, the president said the United States would not launch an attack on Iran before the November 3 midterm elections, which will determine whether his Republican Party retains control of Congress. Republicans currently hold narrow majorities in both chambers.
The United States and Israel launched attacks against Iran on February 28, prompting Tehran to retaliate with strikes against Israel and Gulf countries hosting American military bases.
The continuing conflict has also involved Israeli attacks on Lebanon, with the fighting reportedly killing thousands of people and displacing millions across the affected areas.
Beyond the humanitarian consequences, the war has pushed oil and gas prices higher around the world, adding pressure on consumers and creating economic concerns for the Trump administration ahead of the US midterm elections.
Meanwhile, Iranian officials have warned that Tehran is preparing a broader response if hostilities resume.
Two senior Iranian security officials said Iran had developed detailed plans to target undersea communications cables in the Gulf if the United States and Israel launch further attacks.
Such a move could threaten critical communications infrastructure connecting countries across the region, raising concerns about the potential consequences of another escalation.
Trump’s latest remarks have added to uncertainty over whether Washington intends to intensify military pressure on Iran or seek a way to bring the conflict to an end.
Although the president suggested that another operation remained possible, he did not announce a specific military plan or provide a timeline for any further action.
