The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the recruitment of ad hoc personnel ahead of the 2027 general elections, giving interested Nigerians an opportunity to apply for temporary election duties.
The commission activated its INECPRES recruitment portal on September 18, 2026, for applicants interested in serving during the elections.
INEC said the application window will remain open until midnight on Wednesday, November 18, 2026.
In its notice, the commission said the portal was activated specifically for people who wish to participate as ad hoc election staff during the 2027 general election.
“The online application will be available on the INEC website via the link inecnigeria.org (for both mobile App. and the web Application),” the commission stated.
Applicants using laptops or desktop computers can access the web version of the recruitment platform, while an Android application is also available for those applying with mobile devices.
INEC advised prospective applicants to use only the designated INECPRES channels to submit their applications within the stipulated period.
The commission’s recruitment platform provides opportunities for different categories of election personnel, including Supervisory Presiding Officers, Registration Area Centre Managers, Presiding Officers, Assistant Presiding Officers and Registration Area Technical Support personnel.
According to the commission, applicants must meet the eligibility requirements for the particular position they intend to apply for.
Basic requirements include having a functional email address and phone number, a personal bank account, a recent passport photograph and relevant identification or qualification documents. Applicants are also required to provide details of two referees.
INEC further stated that applicants should carefully review their information before submitting their forms because submissions are final and cannot be edited after completion.
Those selected for election duties will be deployed based on their selected state of residence, according to the recruitment guidelines.
The 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections are scheduled for January 16, 2027, while the governorship and State House of Assembly elections will hold on February 6, 2027.
Interested applicants therefore have until November 18 to complete their registration through the official INECPRES platform.
