The Adewole Adebayo-Bugaje Presidential Campaign Council has declared that a focused government can rescue Nigeria from corruption, insecurity, poverty and poor governance within a four-year tenure.
The campaign made the assertion during a press conference in Abuja, insisting that its candidate, Prince Adewole Adebayo, represents a credible alternative ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
It argued that Nigerians have heard enough promises from the country’s established political class and should instead assess presidential candidates based on their ideas, preparedness, integrity, track record and ability to achieve measurable results within one term.
Speaking at the event, the campaign’s Chief Communications Adviser, Comrade Mark Adebayo, said the assessment followed what he described as a detailed comparison of leading presidential contenders based on intellect, preparedness, integrity, track record and political will.
The campaign said its case was largely built around Adebayo’s policy blueprint, ‘Farewell to Poverty and Insecurity’, which contains four-year implementation plans covering areas including security, the economy, energy, electricity, education, agriculture, healthcare, housing, social welfare, human rights, infrastructure and foreign relations.
“Forty years is not enough time for corrupt leaders to stop milking a country dry, but four years is more than enough for a focused leader to rescue his people,” Mark said.
He said Adebayo was willing to stake his political future on measurable achievements rather than excuses, pointing to the administration of the late former Lagos State governor, Lateef Jakande, which he said recorded significant progress in housing, education and transportation within a single term.
Mark also presented Adebayo and the Social Democratic Party (SDP) as a third-force alternative to Nigeria’s two dominant political blocs, which he described as “Siamese Twins” that had failed to deliver meaningful change to Nigerians.
According to him, Adebayo’s professional background and readiness to face public scrutiny further distinguish him from other contenders.
“My principal, Adewole Adebayo is ready to debate any presidential candidate even at a moment’s notice in the areas of economy, technology, agriculture, security, constitutionalism, aviation, education, international diplomacy, oil and gas, personal integrity, and all debatables,” he said.
The campaign challenged other presidential hopefuls to present their records and policy programmes to Nigerians through open debates, insisting that Adebayo had nothing to conceal.
On former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, the campaign claimed that Adebayo had a stronger record of personal integrity and professional excellence, while alleging that questions had repeatedly been raised about Atiku’s integrity.
The campaign also criticised Peter Obi’s economic and political approach, accusing him of depending on populist rhetoric and alleging inconsistencies in his political positions. It further condemned what it described as the use of ethnic and religious sentiments to influence political support.
Mark said Adebayo’s programme was instead based on what the campaign described as empirical possibilities and practical solutions rather than identity politics.
On President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the campaign questioned aspects of the President’s educational history while contrasting it with Adebayo’s declared academic and professional background.
Mark said Adebayo attended St Stephen Primary School, Ondo, between 1978 and 1983 and St Joseph College, Ondo, from 1983 to 1989. He said the candidate later studied law at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, was called to the Nigerian Bar and subsequently travelled to the United States, where he passed the New York Bar examinations.
He also accused Tinubu of avoiding presidential debates, maintaining that Adebayo was prepared to debate him or any other presidential candidate on a wide range of issues.
The campaign extended its criticism of the current administration to the economy and security, with Mark accusing the government of overseeing worsening poverty, hunger, insecurity and an increasing number of out-of-school children.
“President Tinubu knows and all Nigerians know that in a free, fair and credible election, he will lose in a landslide in 2027,” he said.
Mark further alleged that plans were being made to compromise the electoral process and called on Nigerians to participate massively in the election while remaining vigilant to protect their votes.
The campaign also warned public officials, both current and former, who it accused of looting public resources that an Adebayo administration would pursue the recovery of allegedly stolen assets and strengthen anti-corruption institutions.
“Your stolen loots will be fully recovered and put to good use for the benefits of the country and its people,” Mark said.
He said anti-corruption agencies would be restructured and strengthened, with political interference removed and their responsibilities focused on recovering public assets.
On insecurity, the campaign proposed the creation of a national anti-kidnapping and banditry command to coordinate intelligence gathering, tactical responses, digital investigations, financial tracking and prosecution.
Under the proposed system, every reported kidnapping would result in a unified case file, victim-recovery strategy, communication plan and financial-intelligence investigation. Existing specialised security capabilities would also be incorporated into a permanent multi-agency framework.
Mark accused alleged sponsors of terrorism and banditry of receiving protection from influential individuals, warning that communities and territories were increasingly being exposed to non-state actors.
He said the security situation represented a failure to fulfil the provisions of Chapter Two of the 1999 Constitution, as amended, which states that the security and welfare of the people shall be the primary purpose of government.
On electricity, the campaign promised significant investment in solar technology and proposed reorganising the power sector to improve generation and distribution.
It also proposed the establishment of modular refineries across every state while seeking to return existing government-owned large refineries to full production capacity.
On housing, the campaign said the sector would be treated both as a social necessity and an avenue for economic growth. It proposed a national affordable housing and sustainable communities programme targeting at least three million affordable housing units across the country within four years.
The campaign also described agriculture as a key foundation for economic recovery, proposing that production should be driven by the comparative advantages of different regions.
Under the proposal, the North would focus on grains, livestock and groundnuts; the Middle Belt on tubers and fruits; while the South would concentrate on palm produce, cocoa, cassava and fisheries.
According to the campaign, every major policy area contained in ‘Farewell to Poverty and Insecurity’ has a four-year implementation roadmap with specific timelines for the 2027–2031 period.
Mark urged Nigerians and the media to judge presidential candidates according to the strength of their policies and intellectual capacity rather than ethnic considerations, financial inducements or the size of campaign rallies.
“When you weigh all the options objectively, you will find that Prince Adewole Adebayo stands completely alone at the top. He is the only candidate offering a scientific, compassionate, and rapid plan to build a new Nigeria,” he said.
