The presidential candidate of the New Democratic Coalition (NDC), Peter Obi, has said his administration would prioritise repairing existing infrastructure across Nigeria before embarking on the construction of new roads, buildings and other projects.
Obi made this known on Thursday during an exclusive interview with Arise Television, where he outlined some of his plans if elected president in the January 16, 2027 presidential election.
He said his administration would focus on rehabilitating existing infrastructure rather than spending resources on new projects while current roads and public facilities remain in poor condition.
According to Obi, there would also be no construction of new guest houses or extension buildings for the President, First Lady or other government officials until existing facilities are properly utilised.
Obi said, “So, you’re not going to see the building of new guest houses, the building of anything. In fact, no new building. No new building.
“We’ll fix the existing roads before building new ones.
“We’re not going to start building new extensions for the president or for the wife or for anybody. We will fix what is existing.”
