The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Interim National Working Committee has endorsed the G-100 process aimed at forming an all-opposition alliance to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
The move comes amid growing economic hardship and insecurity across the country, with the PDP saying opposition parties and other credible political forces need to unite behind an alternative capable of addressing Nigeria’s challenges.
PDP Interim National Working Committee Chairman, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, said the party’s participation was based on assurances that the process would be guided by transparency, equality, data-driven decisions and egalitarianism.
“Our participation is anchored on the promise that the process will be hinged on the philosophical underpinnings of transparency, equality, data-driven decisions and egalitarianism.”
Turaki said a credible process was necessary to produce the kind of leadership Nigerians need amid rising poverty and insecurity.
“Any result birthed by a process midwifed by these virtues will certainly offer Nigerians a credible leadership capable of alleviating the skyrocketing poverty and rising insecurity in the country.”
The PDP said its endorsement was consistent with its earlier commitment to work with like-minded political parties and organisations seeking an alternative to the APC-led government.
The party’s participation in the maiden G-100 meeting on August 31, 2026, was described as another indication of its readiness to contribute to the emergence of a united opposition platform ahead of the 2027 polls.
PDP Interim National Working Committee National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, said the party would contribute to building a platform capable of taking power from the incumbent government and rebuilding Nigeria.
He said the development further demonstrated the PDP’s willingness to collaborate with political forces outside the party as opposition groups explore the possibility of confronting the APC through a common platform in 2027.
