Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has congratulated Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on his re-election and urged him to continue delivering good governance to the people of the state.
Obasanjo made the call during a congratulatory visit to Adeleke following his victory in the August 15 governorship election.
According to a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, on Monday, the former President visited Adeleke at his country home in Ede, where the two also shared some celebratory moments.
Obasanjo prayed for greater success for Adeleke and encouraged him to remain committed to good governance and the delivery of democratic dividends to the people of Osun State.
“Continue to deliver good governance. Continue to meet the needs of your people,” Obasanjo told the governor.
Adeleke, who expressed surprise at the former President’s visit, thanked Obasanjo for the gesture and credited God and the people of Osun State for his electoral victory.
The governor also promised to remain committed to serving the people of the state and meeting the expectations that came with his renewed mandate.
“Baba, I thank you for this surprise visit. I promise never to disappoint God, Osun people and all lovers of democracy who made our victory possible,” Adeleke said.
The governor was accompanied by the Deputy Governor of Osun State, Prince Kola Adewusi, during the visit.
Adeleke secured re-election in the August 15 governorship election, defeating his closest challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
