The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has congratulated Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on his re-election for another four-year term.
NGF Chairman and Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, conveyed the forum’s congratulations in a statement issued on Sunday, while wishing Adeleke a successful second term.
The forum said Adeleke’s performance and personal qualities contributed to his victory in what it described as a keenly contested election.
“The NGF acknowledges the strides and personality of the Governor, which readily paid off at the keenly contested election.”
The governors also commended Osun residents for their strong turnout, saying the interest generated by the off-cycle election demonstrated the resilience of Nigeria’s democracy.
The forum praised all the candidates who participated in the election and acknowledged the role opposition parties play in strengthening the democratic process.
The NGF also commended security agencies for containing the violence recorded in the days leading up to the election and creating conditions that allowed voting to proceed with limited incidents.
The forum further praised President Bola Tinubu for what it described as his statesmanlike handling of the election, noting his position as both leader of the ruling party and President of the country.
“We are confident that HE Ademola Adeleke will continue to build on the successes of his first term in the overall interest of the people of Osun State.”
