Osun State Governor and Accord Party governorship candidate, Ademola Adeleke, has called on President Bola Tinubu to caution security agencies deployed for the governorship election and ensure that the votes of residents are protected.
Adeleke made the appeal in a statement shared on his X account as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) continued the collation of results across the state.
The governor expressed concern over alleged attempts by some politicians to disrupt the collation process at various centres.
“Reports of attempts to hijack or disrupt collation centres by desperate and rejected politicians across the state are deeply concerning and unacceptable.”
Adeleke urged Tinubu to direct the heads of the security agencies to protect voters and safeguard the integrity of the electoral process.
He also appealed to the President to reaffirm his commitment to ensuring that the votes cast by Osun residents are counted and reflected in the final outcome.
The governor specifically called on the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services, Nigerian Army and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps to follow the President’s directive and allow the collation process to proceed without interference.
He further urged the Federal Government to provide INEC with the necessary support to complete the collation and announce what he described as a credible result.
According to Adeleke, the people of Osun State have made their choice through the ballot and their votes must be protected and respected.
