Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has ordered the immediate closure of the secretariat of the dissolved Ad-hoc Committee on the Sale of Federal Government Houses in the FCT.
The FCT Administration announced the directive in a statement issued on Wednesday by the minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka.
According to the statement, Wike has also approved the establishment of a new division within the Department of Land Administration to handle matters relating to the sale of Federal Government Houses in the FCT.
The new division will take over the responsibilities previously handled by the dissolved Ad-hoc Committee.
New Division to Handle Housing Sales
The FCT Administration explained that although the committee had completed its assignment, its secretariat remained operational to address issues arising from its activities.
With the secretariat now formally closed, members of the public seeking information or assistance regarding the sale of Federal Government Houses in the FCT have been directed to approach the Department of Land Administration.
The administration said the move was aimed at ensuring that all matters relating to the sale of the houses are handled through the appropriate government department.
FCT Warns Against Fraudsters
The FCT Administration also warned members of the public to be cautious of individuals who may attempt to exploit the dissolution of the committee and closure of its secretariat.
It specifically warned against people falsely presenting themselves as staff, officers or members of the former committee or its secretariat.
“Members of the public are also urged to be mindful of the antics and activities of fraudsters who parade themselves as staff, officers and members of the defunct Ad-Hoc Committee/Secretariat on SFGH as the committee and secretariat no longer exist,” the statement said.
The administration advised members of the public to deal only with the newly designated Department of Land Administration on issues concerning the sale of Federal Government Houses in the FCT.
