A fire outbreak has occurred at Terminal 2 of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, prompting an emergency response from airport firefighters.
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) confirmed the incident in a statement on Sunday, assuring the public that no casualties or loss of life had been recorded.
According to FAAN, its Aerodrome Rescue and Firefighting Service (ARFFS) responded immediately and is working to bring the situation under control.
“The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) wishes to inform the public that a fire incident has occurred at Terminal 2 of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos,” the statement read.
The authority added:
“The FAAN Aerodrome Rescue and Firefighting Service (ARFFS) is currently responding to the incident and working diligently to contain the situation. There have been no reported casualties or loss of life.”
FAAN said more information would be released as investigations and emergency operations continue.
The latest incident comes just months after another fire broke out at Terminal 1 of the airport in February 2026.
Following that incident, the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) disclosed that the fire severely disrupted the terminal’s air-to-ground communication system, raising concerns about airport infrastructure and safety.
Authorities are yet to determine the cause of Sunday’s fire.
