Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will secure victory in the 2027 presidential election, saying the achievements recorded in Imo under the current administration have convinced residents to support the President’s re-election.
The governor made the remarks while hosting members of the Presidential Media Team and Renewed Hope Ambassadors to a dinner at the Government House in Owerri, where he highlighted several projects executed by his administration and attributed many of them to the increased funding received following the Federal Government’s economic reforms.
According to Uzodimma, the people of Imo have already made up their minds to support Tinubu because they have witnessed the impact of the administration’s policies on the state’s development.
“Our people have already decided that they want President Bola Tinubu back as president because without him and his policies and programmes, this environment we are enjoying today would have been very impossible to achieve,” the governor said.
Uzodimma explained that the removal of fuel subsidy and other economic reforms significantly increased the state’s monthly allocation, enabling his administration to invest heavily in infrastructure, healthcare, education and electricity.
“When people were trying to oppose subsidy removal, I came out and said subsidy must be removed,” he stated.
The governor revealed that Imo’s monthly internally generated revenue (IGR) has grown from less than ₦400 million in 2020 to almost ₦6 billion in 2026, while the state’s debt profile has reduced from ₦287 billion to about ₦90 billion.
He also praised President Tinubu’s leadership, comparing his reforms to those of Singapore’s founding Prime Minister, Lee Kuan Yew.
“From 2023 to 2026 is just three years. I have seen another Lee Kuan Yew in President Bola Tinubu,” Uzodimma said.
The governor highlighted several projects completed and ongoing under his administration, including the reconstruction of major roads, hospitals, educational institutions, the International Conference Centre (ICC), the Imo Digital City, and the rehabilitation of key federal roads within the state.
According to the Commissioner for Digital Economy and e-Government, Chimezie Amadi, the Imo Digital City has trained more than 75,000 youths in digital skills ranging from software engineering and cybersecurity to artificial intelligence and cloud computing.
“This is not a training centre for the sake of training; it is a talent factory producing the next generation of technology founders for Nigeria and Africa,” Amadi said.
He added that the facility is also assembling smartphones and feature phones locally, while helping develop digital talent that is now supporting technology growth in other parts of the country.
Also speaking at the event, the Special Adviser to the President on Public Communication, Sunday Dare, commended Uzodimma for organising a media tour that allowed journalists to independently assess projects being executed under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Uzodimma maintained that the progress recorded in Imo would strengthen support for President Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections.
