Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has announced the Executive Chairman of the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS), Jerry Adams, as his running mate for the 2027 governorship election, describing the decision as a commitment to inclusive governance and lasting unity.
The governor made the announcement on Tuesday, saying the choice followed extensive consultations, careful reflection and prayers.
According to Sani, the nomination goes beyond selecting a deputy governorship candidate and represents a deliberate effort to strengthen peace, fairness and unity across Kaduna State.
He said his administration has consistently embraced the state’s ethnic, religious and cultural diversity by implementing policies that promote inclusion and ensure every resident has a sense of belonging.
Governor Sani noted that since assuming office on May 29, 2023, his administration has expanded development projects across the state’s 23 local government areas, with investments in roads, education, healthcare, agriculture, water supply, rural development and social protection.
He also credited the government’s collaboration with traditional rulers, religious leaders, community organisations, women and youth groups for improving security, restoring peace and encouraging farmers and businesses to return to normal activities.
Explaining why he chose Adams, the governor described him as an experienced public servant and respected tax administrator whose leadership transformed KADIRS into one of Nigeria’s leading revenue agencies.
According to Sani, Adams’ efforts in improving the state’s internally generated revenue have strengthened Kaduna’s financial capacity and enabled greater investment in key sectors.
“Jerry Adams is a man of integrity, humility and quiet strength who has consistently demonstrated commitment to peace, reconciliation and inclusive governance. His emergence reflects our belief that merit, competence and character should remain the defining qualities of leadership,” the governor said.
Governor Sani called on Kaduna residents to support the ticket and look beyond ethnic, religious and regional differences.
He urged the people to embrace a shared vision of a peaceful, united and prosperous Kaduna State where every citizen has equal opportunities to succeed.
The governor expressed confidence that his administration would continue building on its achievements and leave behind a state that is more secure, just and economically prosperous for future generations.
