US President Donald Trump has downplayed concerns that the country’s ammunition stockpiles may be running low following months of military operations linked to the conflict with Iran, insisting that the United States has more than enough weapons in reserve.
Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One on Monday, Trump rejected suggestions that the prolonged military campaign had significantly reduced the nation’s supply of munitions.
The comments came after he was asked whether he was worried about reports of dwindling ammunition stockpiles following five months of bombing operations involving Iran.
Responding confidently, the US president said the country remains well-equipped and has sufficient military resources to meet any future security needs.
“We have a lot of ammunition. We have a lot of the mid-level stuff too, more than we could ever use no matter what,” Trump said.
His remarks come amid growing discussions over military preparedness and defence resources as tensions continue to shape the security situation in the Middle East.
Trump’s assurance is expected to ease concerns over the readiness of the US military, even as developments in the region remain under close international watch.
