Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has revealed that he regularly asks his wife to pray for President Bola Tinubu to continue supporting him, saying presidential backing is key to achieving results in government.
Wike made the remark on Tuesday during the inauguration of the Water Supply Network to Bwari Satellite Town in the Bwari Area Council of the FCT.
The minister disclosed that the FCT Administration has now officially inaugurated 50 projects, with plans to commission 10 additional projects before January.
Speaking at the event, Wike said his experience as both a former governor and minister has taught him that no minister can succeed without the confidence and support of the President.
According to him, strong backing from President Tinubu has enabled the FCT Administration to deliver several development projects across the nation’s capital.
“Every day, I tell my wife to keep praying that Mr. President will continue to support us. Without that support, it is difficult for any minister to perform,” Wike said.
The former Rivers State governor admitted that while he does not consider himself someone who prays often, his wife is deeply devoted to prayer, and he constantly asks her to pray for God’s guidance and continued presidential support.
He praised President Tinubu for providing the resources and encouragement needed to transform the FCT, assuring Nigerians that his administration would not disappoint the President.
Wike also stressed that the primary purpose of governance is to improve the lives of citizens, noting that the Tinubu administration remains focused on delivering projects and making life better for residents.
According to him, when citizens are satisfied with government performance, leaders also derive satisfaction from serving the people.
The minister reaffirmed his commitment to continuing developmental projects across the Federal Capital Territory, saying the administration would remain focused on fulfilling its promises to residents.
