There was an emotional moment as the pupils and teachers rescued from captivity in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State expressed heartfelt appreciation to President Bola Tinubu and Nigeria’s security agencies for securing their freedom after weeks in captivity.
In a video shared by the Presidency on Friday, the freed victims thanked the President for prioritising their safety and praised the military, police and other security operatives involved in the successful rescue operation.
“We are grateful, Mr President. We understand your commitment to our safety, and we appreciate all you did for us. We could see it in your heart. Thank you very much,” one of the rescued victims said.
The victims also commended the security personnel for risking their lives to bring them home safely.

“Every security operative tried so much and that is why we are still alive now. We are very grateful to you. Thank you very much,” the victim added.
The rescue was confirmed earlier by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, who announced that all the abducted pupils and teachers had regained their freedom following a coordinated operation by security agencies.
The victims were kidnapped after gunmen attacked three schools in Oriire Local Government Area on May 15, an incident that sparked nationwide concern and intensified rescue efforts.
