The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has announced that it will begin enforcing statutory requirements on company business letters from August 1, 2026, warning that businesses that fail to comply will face sanctions.
In a public notice shared on its official X account, the commission said the enforcement is in line with the provisions of the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) 2020.
Under the law, every company’s business letters—including invoices, quotations, official correspondence and other business documents—must clearly display the company’s registered name, registration number, directors’ names, any former names, and the nationality of every non-Nigerian director.
According to the CAC, the enforcement will cover the full implementation of Sections 304(1), 304(2) and 304(1)(c) of the Act.
The commission urged all affected companies to update their business documents before the deadline to avoid penalties.
It also reaffirmed its commitment to promoting transparency, accountability and a stronger corporate regulatory system in Nigeria.
