The Kano State Government says it has carried out 1,508 development projects valued at ₦928 billion within the first three years of Governor Abba Yusuf’s administration.
The disclosure was made by the Commissioner for Public Procurement, Project Monitoring and Evaluation, Nura Iro Ma’aji, during a press briefing in Kano.
According to the commissioner, 799 projects have been completed, while 709 others are still ongoing across the state’s 44 local government areas.
Ma’aji noted that the figures do not include the 619 constituency projects currently being executed by members of the Kano State House of Assembly.
He said the state government invested more than ₦169 billion in urban renewal initiatives, including road rehabilitation, drainage construction and other infrastructure projects within the metropolis.
The commissioner also disclosed that contracts worth over ₦118 billion were awarded for the construction of five-kilometre roads in 38 local government areas to improve transportation and connectivity.
On security, he said the government approved projects valued at over ₦6.8 billion for the construction of divisional offices for the Kano State Neighbourhood Watch in 36 local government areas.
Ma’aji added that rural development projects covering education, healthcare and other social interventions across the state’s 44 local government areas account for contracts worth more than ₦397 billion, while other development initiatives are valued at about ₦255 billion.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to transparency, the commissioner said the Ministry of Public Procurement, Project Monitoring and Evaluation would continue to ensure all projects comply with due process and approved standards.
“The ministry remains committed to ensuring value for money through effective monitoring of developmental projects across Kano State,” he said.
