The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has announced the seizure of 12,724.652 kilogrammes of illicit drugs and psychotropic substances in Kaduna State, alongside the arrest of 1,107 suspects over a one-year period.
The Kaduna State Commander of the NDLEA, CN Maijama’a Muhammad, disclosed the figures during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), saying the operations were carried out between June 2025 and June 2026.
According to him, the seized substances included cannabis sativa, heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine, tramadol and other psychotropic drugs, as the command intensified intelligence-led raids and enforcement operations across the state.
Muhammad revealed that 1,075 men and 32 women were arrested for various drug-related offences during the period.
He added that 297 suspects were charged to court, while 251 convictions were secured, describing the outcome as a major boost in the agency’s efforts to combat drug trafficking.
Beyond enforcement, the NDLEA said it admitted 94 individuals into rehabilitation programmes, successfully rehabilitated 78 persons, and provided counselling and brief interventions to 1,458 people.
The commander also disclosed that operatives dismantled 662 drug joints across Kaduna through sustained intelligence gathering and community collaboration, significantly disrupting local drug distribution networks.
Muhammad commended the Kaduna State Government, security agencies, traditional rulers, religious leaders and other stakeholders for supporting the agency’s anti-drug campaign, stressing that tackling drug abuse requires collective action.
“The fight against drug abuse and illicit trafficking is a collective responsibility. Government agencies alone cannot win this battle,” he said.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting communities through prevention, rehabilitation, enforcement and strategic partnerships.
