The Vice Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Rabiu Kwankwaso, says the party is intensifying efforts to strengthen its structure and unity as preparations for the 2027 general elections gather momentum.
Kwankwaso disclosed this in a post on his verified X account on Sunday after paying a courtesy visit to the party’s National Leader, Seriake Dickson, at his residence in Abuja.
According to him, the meeting was part of ongoing consultations aimed at building a stronger and more united party ahead of the next general elections.
“Today, I paid a courtesy visit to the National Leader of our party, the NDC, His Excellency Seriake Dickson. The engagement forms part of our ongoing efforts to strengthen the party’s unity, resilience and strategic readiness as we prepare for the 2027 general elections,” he wrote.
Kwankwaso also reaffirmed the party’s commitment to democracy and the rule of law despite recent legal challenges, expressing confidence that the judiciary would deliver justice.
He urged members and supporters of the party to remain calm, focused and committed to the party’s vision.
On his part, Dickson confirmed the meeting in a post on his official Facebook page, saying both leaders discussed issues affecting the party and reaffirmed their commitment to defending Nigeria’s multi-party democracy.
He also disclosed that the party had begun taking legal steps to challenge the recent Federal High Court ruling in Lokoja, insisting the NDC remains focused on its objectives.
The development comes days after the Federal High Court in Lokoja set aside its earlier judgment that directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to register the NDC, ruling that all necessary parties were not heard before the initial decision was delivered.
Despite the setback, the party says it remains confident that it will overcome the legal hurdles ahead of the 2027 elections.
