National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Seriake Dickson, says President Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will lose the 2027 general elections if Nigerians are allo
wed to vote in a free and fair electoral process.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Dickson expressed confidence that growing public dissatisfaction with the APC-led administration would translate into defeat for the ruling party at the polls.
“We believe the APC government and the APC as a party will be defeated massively if Nigerians are given the opportunity to freely choose their leaders,” he said.
The former Bayelsa State governor called for a level playing field, urging authorities to allow all political parties to participate freely in the electoral process without interference.
He maintained that only a transparent and credible election would truly reflect the will of the Nigerian people.
Dickson also disclosed that the NDC remains open to discussions with other opposition parties ahead of the 2027 elections, saying the party is willing to explore possible alliances after the candidate nomination process.
According to him, while coalition talks remain an option, the NDC hopes any future alliance would eventually rally behind its candidates.
He stressed that the party was not claiming superiority over other opposition groups but remained committed to dialogue aimed at strengthening democratic participation.
On the legal challenge against the NDC, Dickson dismissed the lawsuit seeking the party’s deregistration, describing it as politically motivated and without merit.
He insisted that the case would not stop the party from participating in the 2027 elections, adding that all NDC candidates would remain on the ballot.
Dickson also defended the party’s registration process, stating that the NDC complied with all constitutional and legal requirements and remains confident in both the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the judiciary.
He further rejected claims challenging the party’s logo, arguing that the peace symbol has long been recognised internationally and cannot be exclusively owned by any individual or organisation.
