Samuel Anyanwu, the National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has declared that it is his turn to govern Imo State, insisting that his former political colleagues have all had the opportunity to lead the state.
Speaking on Saturday in Owerri during the inauguration of the ‘Polling Unit Movement for Sam Daddy’, Anyanwu said he believes it is only fair for him to become the next governor after Ikedi Ohakim, Emeka Ihedioha, and Hope Uzodimma.
“We were four strong PDP men… myself, Hope Uzodimma, Ikedi Ohakim and Emeka Ihedioha. As God may have it, all three have governed Imo State, leaving only me. I have come to take my turn, and I believe other contestants will give way,” he said.
The PDP chieftain acknowledged that political power is not handed over easily but expressed confidence in his ambition.
“Power is not given, it is taken. I will keep my eyes on the ball,” he stated.
Anyanwu also expressed optimism about the future of the PDP, saying the party is becoming stronger and attracting more supporters across the state.
“PDP today is growing stronger and more united. Our number is increasing in thousands. PDP remains the party our people believe in, and we will not disappoint them,” he said.
He urged members of the newly inaugurated support group to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
The former governorship candidate also warned against electoral malpractice, assuring supporters that the PDP would closely monitor polling units during the election.
“Their rigging tactics will not work this time. We have our people at every polling unit to monitor and protect every vote until the results are announced,” he added.
Anyanwu further disclosed that the ‘Polling Unit Movement for Sam Daddy’ is one of several support groups already working to promote his governorship ambition across the state.
