The wife of the Anambra State Governor, Dr. Nonye Soludo, has called on residents to report cases of child abuse and other emergencies, following the rescue of a 10-year-old boy who allegedly suffered horrific abuse in Obosi.
Mrs. Soludo made the appeal during a visit to the child, Chiziterem, who is currently receiving treatment after reportedly enduring starvation, torture, burns and other forms of inhuman treatment while living with a guardian.

The shocking case has sparked outrage across Anambra and beyond, with many Nigerians demanding justice for the young victim.
According to Mrs. Soludo, protecting children should not be left to government agencies alone, stressing that every member of society has a role to play in safeguarding vulnerable children.
She expressed relief that the boy’s condition is improving and praised medical personnel, concerned residents and everyone who contributed to his rescue and care.
Meanwhile, the Anambra State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of three suspects in connection with the alleged abuse.
Police spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said investigations revealed that the child suffered severe physical abuse while living with the suspects in Obosi.
The principal suspect reportedly confessed during interrogation and allegedly admitted to using burning plastic to inflict injuries on the child.
Authorities said the boy has now been rescued and is receiving medical attention and support, while efforts continue to ensure those responsible face prosecution.
The case drew public attention after the victim’s parents revealed they had entrusted their son to the suspect in hopes of giving him a better future, only to later discover the alleged abuse.
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu, praised residents who provided useful information that helped uncover the case.
He also urged members of the public to continue reporting suspicious activities and criminal acts to security agencies.
As investigations continue, many Nigerians are hoping justice will be served while the young boy receives the care needed to recover from the traumatic experience.
