The All Progressives Congress (APC) has intensified preparations for the upcoming Ekiti State governorship election, announcing plans to officially inaugurate its national campaign council on Wednesday.
The inauguration ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja, as the ruling party begins full-scale mobilisation ahead of the crucial poll.
According to APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the campaign council will be chaired by Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, while Senate President Godswill Akpabio will serve as co-chairman.
The party also named Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele as secretary of the council.
Morka disclosed that the campaign team consists of serving and former governors, principal officers of the National Assembly, and other key party stakeholders tasked with leading the APC’s electoral strategy in Ekiti.
“The council has been mandated to coordinate and drive the party’s campaign activities ahead of the governorship election,” he said.
To strengthen its campaign structure, the APC has also constituted several specialised committees that will oversee different aspects of the electioneering process.
These committees will focus on areas including election planning, finance, grassroots mobilisation, logistics, media and publicity, security, women and youth engagement, as well as overall campaign coordination.
According to Morka, the inauguration marks the official start of the party’s statewide mobilisation efforts aimed at securing victory in the election.
“The inauguration is an important part of activities to kick-start mobilisation across Ekiti State towards a victorious outing in the upcoming governorship election,” he stated.
Political observers see the move as a signal that the APC is already putting its campaign machinery in place as parties begin positioning themselves for what is expected to be a keenly contested governorship race.
With prominent party leaders taking up strategic roles in the campaign council, the APC appears determined to consolidate its influence in Ekiti and retain control of the state.
