Three officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) have been killed after gunmen reportedly ambushed them while on official duty in Bagudo Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
According to security sources, the attack occurred on June 4 while the officers were carrying out their responsibilities along a major route in the area.
Reports indicate that the attackers laid in wait before launching the deadly assault on the FRSC team.
Upon spotting the gunmen, the officers reportedly attempted to escape, but the assailants allegedly chased them on motorcycles and opened fire, killing all three officials.
The victims were identified as Umar Aliyu, Ezra Manu Gona, and Mansur Ibrahim Nasir, all serving members of the FRSC.
The incident has reportedly triggered concern among security personnel in the area, with authorities advising officers to remain vigilant pending further security assessments.
Security agencies have since launched efforts to track down those responsible for the attack and determine the full circumstances surrounding the ambush.
Authorities are also said to have intensified surveillance and other security measures across the affected area to prevent further attacks and reassure residents.
The killings add to growing concerns over insecurity in parts of the country, where attacks on both civilians and security personnel continue to pose serious challenges.
