The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has called on President Bola Tinubu to resign, accusing his administration of failing to protect Nigerians from the worsening wave of insecurity across the country.
In a strongly worded statement, the party’s National Chairman, Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, said violent crimes, kidnappings and terrorist attacks have reached alarming levels, leaving citizens feeling unsafe regardless of where they live.
According to the PRP, insecurity has spread beyond traditional hotspots, with communities across Nigeria now facing constant threats from criminal groups.
“From generals to toddlers; from Bama to Badagry, no Nigerian appears safe under this leadership,” Baba-Ahmed stated.
The opposition party expressed concern over the increasing targeting of schoolchildren and other vulnerable groups, warning that Nigerians must not accept insecurity as a normal part of everyday life.
“Schoolchildren have joined the growing list of soft targets, while the country appears dangerously close to accepting this grim reality as normal. We must not submit to the failures of leadership,” he said.
The PRP chairman argued that despite the enormous powers vested in the presidency, the Tinubu administration has failed to use them effectively to safeguard lives and property.
“President Tinubu has failed the nation, and there is little evidence that he can reverse his dismal record. He has concentrated enormous power in his hands, yet has failed to use it effectively to protect Nigerians,” Baba-Ahmed added.
The party maintained that Nigerians facing daily threats from kidnappers, bandits and terrorists cannot afford to wait until the 2027 elections before demanding accountability.
Calling for urgent action, the PRP insisted that leadership should be judged by performance and responsibility, stressing that citizens deserve a government capable of guaranteeing their safety.
The statement comes amid growing national concerns over kidnappings, attacks on communities and the continued abduction of students and teachers in several parts of the country.
