Veteran Nollywood actress Hilda Dokubo has criticised President Bola Tinubu over the worsening security situation in Nigeria, accusing the government of failing to protect citizens from kidnappings, violence and growing fear across the country.
In a viral video circulating online, the actress expressed frustration over the increasing wave of abductions and attacks, saying ordinary Nigerians are being left vulnerable while political leaders continue to enjoy heavy security protection.
Dokubo argued that the President is shielded by armed escorts, armoured vehicles and multiple layers of security, while millions of Nigerians face daily threats from kidnappers and criminal gangs.
“You live a great life, surrounded by security, but ordinary Nigerians need protection too,” she said.
The actress particularly lamented the plight of farmers who have lost access to their farmlands due to insecurity, insisting that Nigerians need practical solutions rather than speeches.
“The farmers losing their lands every day need empathy, action and protection. They don’t need distance or parables,” she stated.
Dokubo also reacted emotionally to images and videos of kidnapped victims circulating online, describing the suffering of children and families affected by abductions as heartbreaking.
“How can you see a child tied up by kidnappers and not be moved? No parent should have to live with that kind of fear,” she said.
Her comments come amid growing national outrage over recent kidnappings and attacks in different parts of the country, including the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The actress joins a growing list of public figures and celebrities who have publicly expressed concern over insecurity, calling on authorities to take stronger action to protect lives and restore public confidence.
